Lead me from death to life,
from falsehood to truth.
Lead me from despair to hope,
from fear to trust.
Lead me from hate to love,
from war to peace.
Let peace fill your heart,
my world, my universe.
Amen....

The Skin Map By: Stephen R. Lawhead

I requested this book because it looked like an interesting read. I looked forward to reading it. I started reading this book and it was a little different than I had imagined. Even though I was looking forward to something a little different I was not disappointed. The Skin Map is full of mystery and very sci-fi. The twists and turns through out this book will take you on an adventure of a lifetime. You will not want to put this book down. The main character, Kit Livingstone, is transported through time on a search for the mysterious map that is etched in human skin. This map reveals that future of the future. Stephen Lawhead developed this great read for us to enjoy and did an amazing thing by creating this novel. For those of you who love novels that lead you to worlds other than the one we live in, you will want to read this book. I recommend this book to everyone. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author in the future.

When God Created My Toes by: Dandi Daley Mackall

When God Created My Toes is one of the cutest books I have read in a very long time. The book is made for children to read or for parents to read to their children. The cover on this book is too cute with feet hanging out with the clouds. It is a short story full of rhymes and cute wording. The book talks about reasons why God created certain parts of our bodies. The illustrations through out this book are amazing and silly at the same time. They are very child oriented. This book intrigued my three year old when I read it to her at bedtime. She followed along, hanging on to my every word. When God Created My Toes is a book that lets children interact with it by asking questions. If you pause between questions, your child will interact with you and answer these questions. Any child or parent would love this book. I would recommend this book to everyone. It is well created and heart felt. It teaches children a little about God and how He loves us.

“I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review”.

No Place like Holmes By: Jason Lethcoe

Griffin Sharpe was a young boy who was misunderstood by everyone, especially his peers. He has a keen eye for observing even the smallest details. He has a photographic memory and the ability to solve problems using his many talents. Most children his age thought he was weird and did not acknowledge him. Griffin’s mother decided to send him to his uncle’s house in England for the summer. Since Griffin had never met his uncle, he was excited. A conversation, while aboard the train, led him to believe his uncle was the great Sherlock Holmes. His excitement would soon be shattered because as he knocked on the door to his uncle’s apartment Rupert Snodgrass was standing on the other side. His uncle was short tempered and very agitated and did not know Griffin was being sent to stay with him. Over the next few weeks Griffin and Snodgrass would help each other to solve a crime that would save the lives of the Queen, Sherlock Holmes and half of England against Nigel Moriarty and his brother. The story has many twists and turns and throughout the story it teaches us that prayer and faith go a long way and can help us achieve the impossible.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a little mystery. This book is riveting and keeps the suspense building. This book it directed more towards the young adult/teenager. You will love reading this story about a boy who leaves his life in God’s hands.

Please Stop Laughing at Me… By: Jodee Blanco

Most people have experienced an ordeal of physical or mental abuse at least once in their lives. In my own experiences, High School was crucial. Bullying is something that should not be tolerated anymore at any time in an individuals life. This type of abuse does not only take place when we are children. Please Stop Laughing at Me is Jodee’s way of portraying bullying. This book portrays Jodee’s life in school and how she was tormented and shunned by her peers. Her life was not made easy by the individuals she knew until her reunion. By reading this book you will experience bullying through Jodee’s eyes and learn how we should respect others and understand their feelings. All it takes to make someone feel important is saying hi to them or sitting with them at lunch. Don’t let others motivate you to hate. I would recommend this book to everyone, especially those who have been bullied and those that are doing the bullying. It is not a surprise that this book made the New York Times Bestseller’s list. This book can help others understand bullying and how it can be prevented. This book also come with a readers guide to help us better understand the book.

The Final Summit By: Andy Andrews

The Final Summit was a tremendously great read. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was well written and the story line was easy to follow, even with all of the twists and turns. The book is suspenseful and thrilling. Humanity has only one chance to survive. The world has been full of hate, greed and pride for far too long. David Ponder is a traveler of time. It is up to David Ponder and a few great minds to find a solution to the world’s demise. These individuals are given five chances to solve the challenge in that has been laid out for them.
Andy Andrews has written many great books through out his writing career. The Final Summit is one of his best books ever. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read. The book is easy to comprehend and the suspense of what will happen in the end and if David Ponder will find a solution to humanities demise is thrilling. I really enjoyed the readers guide at the end of the book. It lets you try to better understand what you have read throughout the book by answering questions about what you have read.

The Canary List By: Sigmund Brouwer

The Canary List is a fiction/suspense novel written by Sigmund Brouwer. The story line is wrapped around Jaime Piper and Crockett Gray. Most of Jaime’s life she has been able to sense evil. Her life inadvertently intertwines itself with the life of her outreach teacher Crockett Gray. Little does Mr. Gray know, his life is about to be turned upside down. He is thrown into a world of Catholicism and demons. Crockett struggles on his search to find out what is happening to Jaime. He soon learns why Jaime is so important to the Catholic priests that have been pursuing her. Crockett spends a lot of effort trying to help Jaime fight her demons and expose the Catholic theory about her.
The Canary List was an interesting read. The story gave a twist in the end that was shocking. I was surprised at what happens. Other than some spelling and grammatical errors I would recommend this book. The suspense in this book is exhilarating. The twists and turns throughout the book lead you to believe the opposite of what is really going to happen. Anyone who likes suspense and stories that come with a twist will really love The Canary List.

The Fight of Our Lives: Knowing the Enemy, Speaking the Truth & Choosing to Win the War Against Radical Islam By: William J. Bennett & Seth Leibsohn

The Fight of Our Lives was an interesting book to read. This book shed some light on the events that have been happening regarding the United States and other countries. The first chapter discussed the event that happened at Fort Hood involving Nidal Hassan. I had not heard of this incident. I was surprised at how many signs he gave his coworkers about his demeanor and thoughts on the war. Something could have been done to prevent what had happened. This book is a wake up call to those that are in the dark about what is going on in the world today. The Fight of Our Lives will give people that wake up call. The book discusses what lead us to be in the situations that we are in. This book also discusses Obama’s plan to make changes. There is an imminent threat to the United States due to our involving ourselves in the wars of other countries. I would recommend this book to others because I feel that it is telling the truth about what is happening in our country and what is needed to resolve these issues. It is a great read and others will like it.
